Sermo is a workplace messaging app that translates messages into each user's preferred language.

Information Sermo Uses

Sermo uses the name you enter, your preferred language, workspace membership information, a randomly generated device ID, a device secret stored on your phone, and a push notification token when notifications are enabled. For paid workspace setup, Sermo also uses the buyer email address, business name, and manager phone number to send onboarding and invite links.

Messages and Media

Messages and any photos or videos you choose to send are sent through Sermo's relay so they can be delivered to the intended recipients. The relay may temporarily queue messages for delivery. Chat history and downloaded attachments are stored on your device.

Translation

Sermo processes message text through translation services so the recipient can read messages in their chosen language. Translation quality and availability may vary.

Camera, Microphone, and Photos

If you grant permission, Sermo uses your camera, microphone, or photo library only when you choose to attach a photo or video to a chat. Sermo does not upload your device address book.

Location and Check-ins

If you grant location permission, Sermo uses your location only when you tap CHECK IN. That check-in can include your approximate or precise location, accuracy estimate, time, name, workspace, and related assignment information so managers can verify the check-in and open the location in a maps app. Sermo does not track background movement or collect continuous location.

Deleting Data

If you delete Sermo from your phone, your local app data is removed from that device. You can also contact support to request removal of relay registration, workspace, purchase onboarding, message, and media data associated with your Sermo ID.

Children

Sermo is not intended for children under 13.
